    Help..... Clothing turning green!

Aarrrrgghhh! My minty Mr. Fantastic's outfit is starting to get a greenish tint to it . I have him stored in a cardboard box with my other figures. He is not wrapped in anything protective..... well he's in a ziplock baggie now. Same thing is happening to Mr. Spock's shirt, so the common denominator is the blue material on both of these guys. What's going on with this? Is this common? Is it because of the cardboard somehow? I haven't had either figure for very long and it just bums me out completely that these 30 year old figures are getting ruined now..... because of something i am apparently doing wrong . Help please!

Could this phenomenon be a result of the skin oils on my hands when handling them? I'm just wondering if i will even be able to correct the problem or if it is permanent..... and destined to become worse .

One thing this tells me is that i need to rethink my storage of these guys. I'd love to be able to display them, but that's not in the cards for the time being. Does someone have a link to where i can get some of those clamshells to store them in? Thanks for any help/advice.

Keep an eye out for a suit. They come up now and again. I think once they start turning green it is like the yellow sleeve rmr and yellow leg aquaman and permanent.

What is unusual is that neither one of them had this problem just a couple months ago when i got them. The color of the outfits was spot on. So it would seem that it is somehow being caused by the way i am storing them. I never would have dreamed that putting them in a cardboard box would have caused this though...... if that's what is indeed causing it. All my figures are definitely all going into quart sized baggies for now, until i can purchase some protective clamshells.

Although it doesn't seem to be the case with most Megos, I learned the hard way that some plastics react with each other causing them to appear to melt. I have had some problems with some of my Mego shoes, however. I try to store my best stuff in wooden drawers or wooden boxes.

The collected wisdom here has yet to discover a way to prevent or correct the blue-to-green issue with Mego outfits. I'm assuming its an interaction between the plastic body and the material (like Cheron's white turning brown). Short of never putting the shirt on the figure, I don't know if there's anything you can do.

I store my loose figures in these clamshells.

I cannot say whether or not these will prevent the color change, but they do stack and store nicely.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to get some of the clamshells to store them in and hope for the best.

While it does suck and you are unhappy about it, sometimes these changes can be quite interesting and even desirable to collect.

Green suits can turn to yellow and in the case of Aquaman and Robin, some folks have been willing to pay extra for those if they are in nice condition.

    Can you post a picture?

P.S. I dig the TJTOYS clamshell also. Very nice to use and stack. Easy as can be. I make the clamshell lid the back side so I can stare at my figures without the brand name imprint getting in the way.
