I stayed in a big fancy hotel in the lower left hand corner of this pic.

At the time they had erected a huge tent in the square to display a photography/film exhibition called Ashes and Snow. Ironically, the artist was Canadian! We had travelled to the other end of the continent to see the work of our countryman.
Although there were more than enough works by Diego and Frida within throwing distance.
Just down the street from here were ruins that they had uncovered. My understanding was that it meant that the seat of power had not moved too far geographically, even before the Europeans.
What I loved about family day was the fact that all the museums and galleries were free. We managed to hit a half dozen of them.
My friend's brother was going to take us to see the Lucha Libres, but unfortunately they were not on during the weekend when we were there. We did get to see the Folklore Ballet at this place here (but forgive me if I would have preferred to see the the Mexican Wrestling!)
