It's more valuable now...since Buckwheat got shot.![]()
I don't care for grading services and have never purchased a graded figure.
Unfortunately, they are a necessary evil. With the advent of reproductions and fakes, people get leary of purchasing a high ticket item without the grading. And when an item is graded, they do tend to sell for way more than an ungraded item.
If I ever decided to sell my Spider-Man collection, I think I will probably send in some of my better issues that would grade high just for the money.
I think I am going to do the same thing with a 24Kt gold coin that I recently purchased directly from the mint. It set me back about $425 and I can sell it on Ebay for about $600. Get the coin certified and if it comes back perfect (which in theory it should except for a manufacturing flaw), we're now talking about $1100 for the same coin (and people are buying the graded ones at these prices which I find absolutely unbelievable.
Another prime example of AFA jumping the shark once again.
1974 Mego Planet of the Apes Loose Soldier Ape AFA U85 - (eBay item 110179223326 end time Oct-16-07 1451 PDT)
Hell, an average carded example of this doesn't go this high.

So, you guys don't think I should buy it then? That seems to be the vibe I'm getting.
Yeah and that soldier ape just looks rubbish without his gloves on. Why stick them in a little case to the side? He looks incomplete. I just don't get it.
"I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. I like dolls" - The Mad Hatter, Arkham Asylum.
It looks like it's in some sort of sterile prison, that's the worst thing I've seen this done.
