Pranks have been part of football rivalries since college football has started. Back in the day, you stole the opposing team's mascot, or TP'ed their commons, etc. The cell phone thing is just a new high-tech prank. I did say it was sophomoric, and like you said moronic, but not classless. If I was a student now, I would probably would have called it, you do stupid stuff like that in college.
You cannot tell me in a couple weeks if some one at Tenn gets hold of a star player's cell number at SC or Ky, and was able to get the number around, it would not happen up there either.
As for the vulgar language, you can turn on any sporting event and if a bad call happens, you will hear BS being yelled by the fans all day long. The university and band are looking into switching the TD song because of the chant. When I attended LSU in the late 80's, we had a TD song that the students chanted along with that had a vulgar word in it, it was changed because of it.
Toys2, yesterday, ESPN Gameday was at LSU. You know the big thing is to make a sign to be seen in the background? Well someone got hold of Tebow cell number, put it on a sign and it got shown on national TV. Some people called the number and filled up his mailbox and some people text msg him.
Here is something classless, unsportsman-like, and actually should have drawn a penalty last night. FLA players during warm up stomping on the Eye of the Tiger. Auburn did the same thing three years ago and got a pre-game unsportsman-like penalty. What did LSU do? They got to kick off from the 50 yard line, so they on-side kicked it, got the ball and made a quick 7 pts:
