Caution Reminder: ALWAYS Read the Auction Listings!!

    Hey,
This has been said before, but I screwed myself with this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290160116553
Normally, these figures MIB go for $150 to $200. Thought I would pick up a good deal and turn around and sell it for a nice profit.
Not to be - for some reason, Diana Ross dolls are in a major depression recently, going for next to nothing. And then the figure arrives.
The box is a C-2 at best. I got mad and went back to the auction. The picture looks great, but read the listing.
Technically, the seller did nothing wrong. He said the picture was of another figure and that the box was trash. I just looked at the picture, looked at the price and went without reading.
I got greedy and didn't read the fine print. I can't get mad at the seller, and I did get a nice figure (not that I am in the market for her) at a reasonable price for the toy.
Just another good example of - ALWAYS READ THE LISTING INSTRUCTIONS!!!

    AND REMEMBER.....

Look at the seller's feedback. This guy has a 97.7%. I try not to go below 99%.

Yea, that seller is a crumb. If your going to do something that stupid and list something without the correct picture, the first thing out of his mouth on the description should be "Auction for figure only". Just shady business tactics. He could of just as easily taken a pictures of both.

The seller didn't necessarily lie, but was intentionally misleading by posting a pic of a different toy. That sucks, sellers like this really count on people not carefully reading descriptions (and based on my selling over the years, many people don't read the description) and can then claim they didn't do anything wrong. And yeah, this person has less than stellar feedback not surprisingly. I'm sorry that you had the bad transaction, but if you learned something from it, you came away with something positive.

yes, I just made the same mistake 2 days ago, I was fighting for a vintage Luke Skywalker with a Double Telescopic Lightsaber, it turns out that the thing was a custom, but luckily I got outbid so I did'nt waste my money, I should have read the fine print though before I rushed into trying to get it.

Even if the seller didn't do anything wrong, I think that sucks and that it is a sneaky practice and i am sorry that it happened to you Chris.

The seller might not have been intentionally misleading. Even though it's not difficult to do, it does take time to snap a picture, upload it, fix and photgraphical issues, crop it, etc.

I have sold things before on Ebay (like a Hallmark ornament) and just used a stock photo from the Hallmark website. It is pretty common practice with the ornaments at least since they don't usually sell for big bucks but yeah, I can understand the frustration.

If you don't have a camera and the item you are selling is in he exact same condition a stock photo would be ok. I would also add this would probably nly be a good idea for newer things.
I used a stock photo for a few Barbies I sold recently, boxeswere mint so I felt it was ok.

It does suck about your purchase, hopefully ou can still turn it around and make a couple of bucks

    Hey,
Thanks for the kind words. Lots of things I didn't do right with this one. Like I said, I WANT to be p*ssed at the seller, but TECHNICALLY he was honest and I did not bother to read the fine print.
Oh well. Figure either I can unload her later, or I might add a celebrity wing to my collection - put her with other loose figures I might get if they are cheap enough in the future (Sonny and Cher, Captain and Tennille, Laverne and Shirley, etc.).
