What were those military action figures called?

Okay, I've been trying to remember the name of an action figure line that I used to love and I'm at my wits end. I've been wracking my brain for two hours, searching Google, checking vintage toy websites, looking through old comics for ads, and trying everything I can think of to remember it and I have decided that the Mego Museum is my only hope.

They were these military action figures. The comic book ad told how they went RATATATAT with the movement of a lever on their base. There was a machine gun guy, a flamethrower guy, and several others. They wore green (and I think they even made them in blue after SWAT became popular) and they had minimal articulation, just the arms and the waist if I'm not mistaken. I know the legs were solid. I thought they were Combat Heroes or Action Heroes, but those searches turned up nothing. I will lose sleep tonight if I can't remember the name of the toy line.

Help me, Mego Museum members! You're my only hope!

I love the Heroe's of Action figures line from the 70's. I have been collecting them for quite some time. I had these when I was a kid. Like you I finally tracked them time from my child hood memory. Then I started collecting them.

I remember this topic being mentioned a "couple" of times before in the past.

That does seem to be a recurring theme here. I've seen the comic ad. Style-wise, they look like the big brother of Mego's Comic Action Heroes!

I have similiar memories as well. Mine was a boxed set of about five or six S.W.A.T. soldiers. I can remember my Dad buying them for me at Sears back in the day.

I can also remember playing with the boxed set in the 70's model van that my Grandfather had when we went on trips when I was a little kid. Great memories.

I was always a big fan of the tv show "The S.W.A.T. Team". The theme music still runs through my head to this day. I even have it on CD along with a bunch of other 70's TV show themes.

That I am unsure of. I do know that there were Army versions of these characters. Not sure if that was the name or not. I just thought that they were all called Heroes of Action.

I had the green ones as opposed to the blue, but my older brother and I loved them. By today's standards the articulation is lame, but they were really cool and imagination took over where articulation failed. I don't know if I'll collect them, but I had to know what they were called. It was driving me mad! I hate when that happens.
