Anyone purchase something from a childhood memory?

Other than a toy. An object that you don't really collect but remember as a child and ended up purchasing as an adult.

For me, it was a 1950's Coca-Cola cooler. My parents had one and I remember I always liked it. We actually used that heavy steel cooler whenever we would go on vacation, etc. Back in the 1980's, we were camping in Myrtle Beach, SC and my dad had the cooler sitting outside with sodas in it (there wasn't even beer or anything). We woke up one morning and it had been stolen. My parents were very upset that someone had stolen that cooler (not because of any monetary value, although we know that is why it was stolen) but because of the memories of taking that cooler with us on vacation. A couple of years ago, I found the exact same model cooler on Ebay and bought it. I took it up to my mom's house to show her and it was unbelievable to see the smile on her face. I told her I wanted her to have it because of the great memories of family vacation. She told me she appreciated the gift but wanted me to keep it because I also shared in the memories and just seeing the cooler brought closure to the stolen chest from 2 decades ago.

McDonald Land glasses, records, Clark's Star Wars shoes for the 70s. (I can actually fit them, I have small feet) Kid Power shoes (ditto), Fonzie socks, (can't wear them but I wanted them really bad as a kid), various t-shirts.

I can't think of anything other than toys and comic books. In both cases, it wasn't toys or comics that I had as a kid, it was toys and comics that I wanted as a kid but never had.

It's neat that you were able to find that cooler, but it sucks that you had to replace it in the first place. It really bugs me when people steal things.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

I drank virtually everything from those insulated plastic cups when I was a kid. So I pick them up everytime I see them at yard sales. Their indestructible! They also serve to hold coffee for me in the morning.

It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

    '77 Trans Am

Ever since I seen Smokey and the Bandit new in the theatre I said to myself someday I will own a Trans Am just like the Bandit's.

In the early 90's I made my dream come true.
Only problem was I found myself constantly having it fixed so I eventually let it go.

But, for a little while I was in heaven

Same here. For some reason I am some what attracted to finding things that I had or did not have in the 70's.

I have always wanted to own a Corvette Sting-Ray ever since I was about 7 or 8. Unfortunately, I have not purchased one (at least not yet). Family is still young and I haven't hid mid-life crisis yet.

I also bought some aluminum cups that I used to drink from when I was a kid and always liked and found them at a yard sale.

Well, I don't know if 16 counts as childhood but...

My first two cars that I owned were Pintos and I cried when the second one died as I loved that car. I had it all fixed up with mag wheels, wide tires, and lots of other stuff. I had been looking for another for MANY years and finally snagged one a couple of years ago. I had to snaz it up to make it look more like my childhood Pinto, but the result was worth it. Yeah, I know, everyone here is probably sick of seeing this picture, but here it is anyway...

Richard Scarry books & toys for me to give to my children (when I have them).

Also bought a '66 Mustang as my sister's boyfriend, when I was 10, had 2 of them. Bad idea for me though, ah well - live and learn.
