Question Any Sake Bottle Aficionados In Here?

I bought this set today at a garage sale for $2. It is mint and fairly old (50's I am guessing).

There is nothing like (that I can find) on eBay.

    What do you think.

Older "Made in Japan" stuff really went down in value these last few years.

I tried to sell a few occupied Japan and after occupied Japan items and they didn't sell -- not even at a low price.

Only the prewar "Made in Nippon" stuff seems to have kept it's value

I love it! Not sure of its value but it looks great.....

We frequent one of the best sushi restaurants in Staten Island called Sushi Excellent, they make some of the tastiest rolls I have ever had with a pretty extensive menu of delicious Japanese cuisine.

A plate of rolls some friends and a bottle of Sake is one great evening!

If you decide to sell please let me know as we have had parties where we roll our own sushi, this would be a great addition to our evening festivities.

I didn't start this thread to pawn my find (just to show off and maybe some info), but I was planning on putting it on eBay.

Still doing a little of my old hobby, seeing what kind of eye I have at garage sales, but if you are interested, pm me.

FYI, it is mint, there is different shades in the finish, making it look chipped in the picture. (it also comes with the original box)

I think the value on a lot of things has declined due to the so called bad economy most are enduring these days.

I only have a cursory knowledge of them. There is a maker's mark on the bottom which is always a good sign and the subject matter looks good. I think it could potentially do well. Have you been able to identify the maker?

I didn't do any more research (just eBay and Google). I put it on eBay for $10, but no bids so far. it ends tonight.

It looks like your item didn't sell. I completed a quick search of completed auctions and it looks like the only sake sets that are in demand are from WWII.

Maybe place it back on Ebay, open it up to bidders in Japan and maybe you will get a hit.

It doesn't look like this is an item that is super collectible by the way the auctions are going.

I had a nice sake set I had picked up in Japan in '95 but I never used it and to tell the truth find sake nasty, so I tossed the set last year when I relocated by home bar setup. that's an interesting set you got there....for $2 keep it for yourself

Sake is not one of my faves.

Premium tequila...like Don Julio and Patrón...on the other hand...
