WorldMego Convert retro actioin to traditional megos?

Is there a tutorial on this site on how to do this? I've heard murmurings about boiling stuff...

Convert retro actioin to traditional megos?

Im not a fan of the "boiling method". I find that just by placing a pressure grip plier (monkey grip) under the arm pits... works superbly....head comes right off (providing that you're ok with discarding the Mattel body).

Works great for me "All the time" I converted all my Retro heads to a Doc Mego body........See below!

Those look awesome. So do I pull the head out, or destroy the chest part to release the head?

I've not done switching bodies on the retro's yet , and I am truly debating it. Are hands prett easy to pull out like mego , CTVT and Docs bodies ?

    Destroy the chest.
Yes, I squeeze beneath the arm pits till it breaks the seal and the head becomes so exposed.... you can pick it with your fingers. With the hands (Mattel glued the hands on their retro figures extremely securely), i cut the Mattel arms at above the forearm, then i trim the sides of the forearms until the plug of the colorized Mattel hand is exposed (take your time, when doing both process). This will allow you to put the Mego hand in the Doc Mego body. Hope this helps out.........

I have yet to buy any of these as I am still on the fence about the poor bodies. I do want the heads, boots, clothing and accessories for customs. They look nice enough it is just a shame that the bodies suck from what I keep hearing.

What is even worse is that I just read that one has to practically destroy the Mattel body just to get the head off. That really sucks! How hard would it have been just to make the heads come off easier like the original Mego versions?? I mean really.

It's probably a safety issue now. Mattel doesn't want to chance some kid chocking.

I wonder. None of the other companies are doing it and I don't think it's because they don't care about safety. Mattel just designed their body that way. Why? Dunno

Perhaps you may have a point. My first thought was that maybe Mattel was protecting their sculpts by trying to keep customizers from modifying the heads. Your point makes better sense though.

Besides a customizer is going to customize one way or the other even if it means breaking something to create something new.
