    Neal Adams Fortress of Solitude

Seems all I ever do is post Work in Progress, but here goes. I thought I'd see how much interest there is in this. I've had it on the back burner for years, I may bring it up to a slow simmer.

I posted the Dida style Wayne Foundation using Mego's original Neal Adams art. Earth2Chris long ago sent me some amazing scans of Neal Adams Fortress of Solitude images from way back, I think it was in the Superman Encyclopedia and maybe a Treasury edition. Thanks, Chris!

What was especially cool about it was that some of the drawings were nearly identical to the Wayne Foundation art! There's a distinctive twisted metal bar in both trophy rooms and the way he draws the computer console chairs is very similar. So it's possible to make a very convincing companion piece to the Wayne Foundation.

I took the art and assembled it into a workable composition. It's a two-level playset with the same elevator shaft, but the top level of the display is open with a laminated cutout snowscape as a backdrop and the famous yellow door with a big key. The artwork on the elevator shaft is a continuation of the playset art rather than a big splash of Superman, not sure if that works, but it does include the Jor-El/Laura statues.

Now, doing this as a Dida is a given...but it would also be interesting if someone has an incomplete Mego Wayne Foundation I could make art panels to fit it to make a Superman playset that truly matches the original!

It's amazing to see this, I missed it before.

I miss Dida and Toyroom's wonderful playsets, I hope FTC ventures a few. The Batcave template could accommodate a FOS and a few others IMO.

A masterpiece. I wish FTC would scoop you up.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
