    What to do about non-payer

Sold a book to a Canadian resident on August 27th...money order was supposedly coming.

I contacted the buyer and they say that the money order was sent but must have been lost and sent another one out September 17th.

It's not a lot of money...like $20, I just don't know how long is reasonable to expect a replacement order to come from Canada. I want to believe everything is true but not sure how much longer to wait until I just pull the plug and relist the item.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

man I'm pretty sure the 2nd one would've arrived by now.It just seems like BS to me.But you could be a nice guy and wait a little longer if you want.I would'nt,tell him to send you a copy of the MO receipt

I've sent money orders out that have been slow, but never that slow.

I've also had slow buyers, and IMO this guy is buying time. I'd tell him you'll give him a couple days for the MO to show, if it doesn't show by then, tell him you're relisting it and if the MO shows after that that you will send it back to him. That's always worked for me ... they either come clean about not sending it yet or they let it slide ... but I have never had one tell me that I was unfair and I've never had a so called late/lost money order show up.

That's too long for a money order. If he can't provide you with a scan of the stub he keeps, file a non paying bidder notice with eBay before it's too late and re-list the item. The time for the non paying bidder may have past, I would do that now anyway so you get your final value fee back.

    Hmmmm....

More than a month is WAY long for a letter from Canada. They'll usually show in two weeks or so. Still; it's possible that it was lost.... but the second one seems to have taken a while too.

If you've listed this on ebay I'd wait until the day before it's too late to post feedback ( as close as possible to the end time) then I'd neg and apply for non-payment penalties. That way you can still apply feedback, and you've given them max time to make good. (Some folks'll send payment if they think they've been caught.)

i agree, once they get the non paying bidder alert notice, they'll get the check to you asap! if not, at least you'll be able to get your ebay fees credited.
