    Great to be back!

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the board and happy to be here. I've been
posting on The Mego Buzz and Mego Marketplace for a while now and
somehow I got a hold of this site. I've already seen a lot of
familiar names from The Buzz and hope to meet a lot more of you
    maniacs in the future.

That was my first post on the Yahoo Mego List back on Jan 29, 2001. My member name back then was skull_leader1. I've been gone a long time my Brothers. Some of the major players back then were: JPKEMPO, pkane, Rob Chatlin, maddmoz, Nova191919, Keene Silfer, palitoy, minu68, Lou Melograna, Jim Hampton and Joe DeRouen. The last big debate that I remember before I left was wacky maddmoz trying to convince the other members that Christ had nothin' on Charlee Flatt.

So the beginning of the end for me occurred when I met up with Rob Chatlin and another member at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for a Toy Show many moons ago. We went to a few collectible shops afterwards (Bray's Toy Mine, which is now in Anaheim, is the only one I could remember now); one of which I picked up my first POTA figure: a common soldier Ape missing his bandoleer, gloves and M-16. We ended up at Rob's place where I got to see his amazing collection. I asked (begged) if he would sell me a rifle for my empty handed Ape, so he whipped out a Zip-Lock Baggie chock full o' M-16's and sold me the firearm. Earlier I had asked Rob what his best score at the Shrine was. He told me he had scored 4 boxed Shogun Warriors for $100.

Shogun Warriors, eh? Well my Brothers, this led your humble narrator down the Diecast (and Vinyl) trail of Japanese Robots & Monsters (Kaiju) for almost a decade:

There's plenty more nonsense where that came from, but let's just say that I fell astray from what started it all; and what started it all was this Spidey:

I picked him up at a Toy Show at the Pasadena Civic Center in the mid 90's. I think I actually bought him from Rebel Toys; Mr. Mego himself. At the time, I remember him looking like Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. As I looked at some of my earlier posts on the List, I may have referred to him as Mr. Repro once or twice, but maybe he has cleaned up his act over the years (no repro parts on a loose Spidey, right?)

    My modest Mego collection:

Though I strayed from the path for many years, my Brothers, I am glad to say that I'm cured!

Wow, you really love them Japanese robots, don't ya?

Welcome aboard, many of the players you mentioned are still here today. It's good to see you come back to your first love.
I love that pose on Spidey and Green Goblin and also how you displayed Cap. America.

Welcome home! Great pics! Hey what is the make of that Ultraman figure standing behind the metallic ape? It looks old, but I noticed it's well jointed! Any info on that would be appreciated. Never seen one like it!

Welcome back! And as a fellow Japanese toy junkie, I love the pics of your collection, especially the Ark diecast King Kong (which has a Mego connection as I'm sure you know). I'd love to pick up one of those some day. Nice chogokins and Kikaider stuff too.

The diecast Ultraman was made by Popy in '78 (I PM'd you a better pic of him). Same company that distributed the Japanese Megos.

The ARK Kong is one of my favorites.

And yes, I'm aware of the Mego connection. In fact, you can see where they attempted to rub out the Mego name on Kong's back.
