The Venus Probe SOOOOOO rules! But isn't the Invader kinda tall?
I'd always thought the SuperJoe vest looked like the Invader's. Maybe Joe captrued and dissected them, and reversed engineered their technology?

Neat line of thinking ctc. Also could be used to tie Super Joe back into regular GI JOE continuity...!! If such a thing exists that is?

Well.... they DID tie the original GI Joe in with the 80's one with the comic. ("I thought you'd be taller." Best. Line. EVER!) SuperJoe seems to be the unloved third cousin.
