Supergirl on DVD: Which version should I get?

I've never owned Supergirl (the 1984 movie) on home video, either VHS or DVD. Heck, I haven't seen Supergirl since probably a few years after the theatrical release. Probably 20 years. I did see it in the theater, and like most, I really liked Helen Slater, but not much else. BUT, I think my son would get a kick out of it, and I have a daughter on the way, so I think I should add it the library.

I see Amazon has multiple versions. And as with most things on Amazon, all the various versions have the same reviews. Looks like WB's current release is pretty bare bones. Is the older 2-disc set worth seeking out?

like the superman multi disk dvd's the 2 disc supergirl has the theatrical release on disc 1 and the extended directors cut on disc 2 (about 20 minutes longer)
Not sure if that makes it worth the price jump from about 8 - 12 for the standard version to 32 for the 2 disc it certainly wouldn't for me but if you want the directors cut it makes more sense to buy that version than the directors cut and theatrical seprataely

    Hey Chris,
I have the two-disc set and would recommend that. Although the plot is clearly the weakest point of this film, I do think the effects were great, at least the flying sequences. I especially liked her first flight once she was on earth...that sequence is great. But I would recommend the two-disc set just because you are such a comic hero fan. By the way, how did the little'uns like the Spider-Man videos a while back?

Buy the 2 disc version. The international version of the film is easier to follow. (Still not a good Supergirl movie, but who doesn't like watching Peter O'Toole being drunk on screen?)

Oddly enough, my son watched the Corman FF movie again tonight! I can't believe I brought that into my house!

LOL! Yes, it is wondefully horrible isn't it? You have to feel robbed by Human Torch as well! Hey, at least the kids like it, that's all that matters. I wish I had kids to "relive" my youth and take them toy shopping! Glad they ae enmjoying the videos though.
