Australian counts as a different language????

Uh, are the manufacturers aware that they speak ENGLISH? Or is this just a goof up on their parts?

I imagine that list is probably just the regions where they are being sold at the moment.

Cool man! OK. As an example I purchased all 4 seasons of Blakes 7 and bought a COBY player because I had heard it was already region-free. When I rcvd it that was not the case. After some searching on the web I found the model I own and instructions on how to set it region free. The instructions were really wierd like:

Turn unit on, open disc tray, push up arrow button, region numbers will appear in the right corner, use fwd chapter advance to select region or go to last number for all regions...

It's like the secret handshake of the Masons or something to do but it worked on my machine. I can play Blakes 7 and access all the bonus materials. In my case Pal/NTSC doesn't even seem to matter. But it's not a blu-ray.

Got my copy, movie plays fine, bonus features play with no visual. So, I LISTENED to the 22m making of piece. It was more like an analysis of it compared to the old Kong but they did briefly talk about the effects and had some Rick Baker interview clips.

So glad you got yourself a copy. I checked the site recently and their sold out! That was a good deal. I wish I could hear the 'making of' featurette. When I try to click on them, it just defaults back to the menu, like they don't exist. But the picture is great. I don't think you fully appreciate it until you put in your original DVD copy and compare it to Blu Ray. Its fairly dramatic!

Cool. Will probably pick up the Blu ray at some point.

Got three editions of it on DVD, region 1, region 2 France and region 2 UK.

MIB, I just read that if you select Japanese from the menu, it allows you to see the special features since Japan uses NTSC for standard video. I am going to try it and you can too.

Its a French release and only costs $14.63! The picture and sound are far and away superior to any DVD version I own. I have included a link below that discusses the quality in great detail. The only setback is the special features are in Pal, so you can't play them if your player is not region free. Too bad too, because there is a "making of" feature AND deleted scenes!!! Ah well... For the money, this was worth it just to get the movie in Blu ray. For fans of the '76 version, this is IT! Note: When you put it in, it will ask for a language and English is not on there. Just pick Australian and you get the regular American version.

Update: It does indeed work but you to remember where everything is on menu because it is all Japanese and the special features have the Japanese subtitles locked on but the audio is in English.

P.S. The blu ray is going for some serious dough now, yikes!
