    Vintage Comic Racks

These are simply amazing. I'm sure many of you will agree! And they put a new meaning to the term "rare"!!

I am so very tempted by at least two of them

My older brother and I would walk to the neighborhood drug store every Saturday and buy comics with our allowance (or just read them in the store). They had a spinning comic book rack that said "Hey Kids! Comics!" on the top. Years later the store was going out of business and gave the rack to my brother. I think after many years, he then gave it to one of our cousins, so its still in the family. Its really a neat piece.

After seeing the first one, the others pale. What a wicked cool piece.

My Dad started working in Grocery Stores when he was 13 (in 1958). Over the years, with the exception of his Military Service (1966-1968) he managed and eventually owned his own store.

I have shown him, in the past, similar auctions and he has lamented, "If I had only known what I was throwing away. Do you know how many of those I have pitched over the years?".

I can remember hunking a couple of racks in the 1980s when comics went from spinner racks to just being on a magazine shelf (before moving away from grocery stores to being sold only in Comic Shops). Had I known at the time, and not been so concious of being too cool for comics, I could have kept them.

Those are sweet... but if you had one, would you put your golden age comics in it?

The GA comic book rack is sweet, the trouble is after shelling out $15K for it, you would then have to have the GA comics to put in it
