    Count Azrak resurrected!!!

I've been collecting parts for a custom Mego-style Dracula figure for about three MegoMeets now. I really hate Mego's Dracula because of its totally goofy, cartoonish look. I got one of CTVT's Grandpa Munster suits and capes and a pair of dress shoes from MegoStore many moons ago to use as the basis of my own figure, but I could never find a Dracula head I liked that had a good resemblance to my favorite Dracula - Lugosi - even Flatt's Lugosi Dracula or Doc Mego/Universal's upcoming figure. Some came close, but needed shrinking or recasting or were just too expensive. I really thought AHI's Dracula head looked great, but most were too beat up or too expensive for cheapskate me. But finally Jason sold me a nekkid AHI Drac and Frankie at MegoMeet 2010 for a great price.

Now, new life has been given to one of the 1970's cheapest but most-beloved Dracula toys!
    I give you... Count Azrak!!!

I love the AHI head! It looks like a more mature Lugosi as Dracula, gorged on fresh blood and awash in an animal rage!

My third custom, but a very simple one. Made from a CTVT Grandpa Munster outfit, considerably taken in and with a lot of stray threads and such trimmed up. Repro pointed black dress shoes (maker unknown by me). Doc Mego gray body and flesh hands. AHI Dracula head with much of the ruddy orange wash removed. (I still need to touch up the hair & eyebrows.) Cummerbund is satin-faced ribbon from Michael's Crafts, matching the beautiful CTVT cape nicely.

The white body gives a white sleeves look to his arms, while the flesh hands match the AHI head's color. I might go for a jet black Doc Mego body (does he make them?) so I can replace the lower legs and feet and give Count Azrak the look of black socks. May also try to get one of those Dracula Medallions for him - which I believe Grandpa Munster came with, but it wasn't part of AHI Dracula's ensemble, so I may not. AHI's Drac has a black tie as well, so I might take this one off and dye it. I dunno.

He goes very nicely with the ChrisDVM's MegoCon Invisible Man and Ed Nagy's MegoMeet 2010 Wolf Man.

                    Thanks, Brian!

I actually just took the clothes off of my CTVT Frankie and put them on AHI Frankie. He's going to stay that way, because I like his old-school greenness and wanted to just restore him to spec, if possible. The AHI outfit seemed like it was pretty similar to Mego's, but just with longer coat sleeves than Mego's.

This is why I love this place!!!

Athough a monster fan, I've never cared for the cheap look/construction of the knock-off monsters.

But heres' a creative reinterpretation of one that shows off the head sculpt to good advantage with a great new costume.

                          Great detailing--kudos!

Thanks! It's simple enough that other folks can give it a try.

I'd be willing to loan out the head for recasting, if anyone's up for it.
