Lightbulb Mattel Mego mold for 9" figures

Do you think Mattel still has the molds for the 9" Maxx FX bodies? If so, they should be using it. Think about how much money they could make selling bodies with no heads. Or they could make whole figures for us. I wonder if they got destroyed...
I'm sure Paul could ask them about the molds. Hey Paul, what about asking in one of your sessions with the Retro-Action people?

possible , since they own matchbox but I doubt they'll use them.

great question,But I recall reading on mel birnkrant's site(creator of maxx FX)
That matchbox had found a surplus of thousands of bodies in a warehouse in the orient which is why they went with those instead of the planned 12" line,

due to this info,I would assume they never owned the molds in the first place.

What if those were the logans run bodies,Because of the fudged out mego info on the bodies I would think not,But the mind boggles.

From my limited knowlege of molds and dealing with China, I would say "no chance". Molds are made of steele, they are heavy and expensive, and kinda fragile, if not cared for they become useless very quickly. So, for this to be a real possibility they'd have to: have owned the molds originally (more likely they used old stock body parts on the cheap), and then kept them up after the figure bombed out, then kept them in the aquisition by Matell, and then kept them in good shape for 15 more or so years later...

I don't know for sure but my hunch is they do not have these molds. My guess, like most old molds, they have long been re-smelted and made into somthing else...

Seems i'm not alone at being alone... Hundred billion castaways, looking for a home...

What a sad story. This is what happens when money gets in the way of passion. The people at Matchbox should still be ashamed of themselves for even being in the toy business if they don't understand what "play" and "fun" are all about. Just sad.
    Come play!
