Conspiracy theories? Give me a break.

I for one welcome our alien overlords. Hail Ming!
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

IMO and experience, the theories are as true as you let them be. I've seen real live human beings dedicated their lives and psyche to the misc. causes out there. The really scary fact is that some of these folks go too far and really start to believe to the poing that they really loose touch with reality. One of these day's I'll have to share the story of "John". I've met the guy, talked to the guy, read his manifesto and still have no idea what the hell he's talking abouot but he is still roaming the streets believing that "they" are controling him. It's kinda scary really.

The most intriguing conspiracy theory subject is "holocaust denial".

It's not so much the theory itself, but how it's handled by countries --- which in many countries in Europe it's illegal to believe the holocaust never happened.

You can actually be sent sent to jail if you claim the holocaust didn't happen.

I don't believe any of them. Too many shows have been either on History Channel or National Geographic that have shot most of these down.

That's probably because every European country was touched by the Holocaust and they probably feel that to claim it never happened has to be one of the most Criminally hateful things a person could dream up.

Thats a good point. Conspiracies DO exist - it's just that any of the ones involving an invisible all powerful group get pretty crazy to me.

Basically anything Alex Jones or David Icke related is silly to me.

I'm kinda skeptical about how this thread isn't going to get super heated and political. Folks have already raised a few hot-button issues. I hope it can keep going though. I love conspiracy theories - I'm just very skeptical about most of the popular ones.

While I think that holocaust denial is one of the most idiotic and morally repugnant conspiracy theories that exists I also strongly believe in free of speech. I'm sure this could evolve into a whole new debate on its own though.
