    Greatest Star Wars Picture Ever

So let me paint this picture, these kids were winners of the Palitoy "Draw a Droid" competition (which I imagine was exactly what it sounds like) in 1979, the grand prize was a tour of the set for "Empire Strikes Back" where they had Gary Kurtz give them a tour and meet up with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew etc

At the end of the tour, Mark Hamil handed them a boatload of Star Wars toys and action figures. Gah! I think I can see the ULTRA cool Palitoy DeathStar in there as well.

I cannot imagine a better day for a kid, it would take a year of bully beatings to wipe that smile off my face. Heck, as a kid I was overjoyed simply because I shared a birthday with Luke Skywalker, it goes without saying I hate these kids....

I bet those kids were in 7th Heaven! Can you just imagine the bragging rights on the schoolyard?

I don't think I could have handled that as a kid... It just would have been too heavy.

If it was me,I don't think they'd be able to take a picture of me. I'd be too busy bouncing off the walls from all of the excitement.

It's just as well I didn't get to experience this. Meeting the Han Solo and then having the Luke Skywalker come out and give me a big stash of Star Wars toys? I would have been rendered catatonic, lying on the floor, wondering if I'd gone to some strange kid heaven, and then I'd have permanent brain damage from overdosing on Pure Unfiltered Awesome.

                        So, yeah, dodged that bullet.

Hamil is such a comic/sci-fi fan, I bet he knew how much this would mean to these kids, and the smile was genuine.

That is awesomely cool. I wonder if those kids remained life-long Star Wars fans?
