12 Inch Non Magnetic Batman With Fly Away Action

Does anybody has evidence that it ever existed? I know that there are pictures at Mego Museum but I have gotten into the conclusion that it has to be a Prototype. I have NEVER seen one at eBay and that is a lot to say... Anyone here can shed some light on this? Thanks!

Ah well, I own one, so I can definitely say they were made and sold.

They're weirdly scarce, real end of the line kind of stuff. There was a tony find of Robins which gives the feeling that they're common but I doubt there is that many around.

The person I bought it from bascially told me he's seen like three in the last twenty years. There are a couple of early eighties mego superhero items like this, real low production numbers after the blitz of 1979.

Here's mine (top middle) , when I first showed it on the museum , I got a funny email from a guy telling me I didn't know what I was doing and that they were really common. He had obviously mistaken it for the magnetic version.

Fly Away action was a pully contraption that Mego added into each figure as a reaction to Remco's Energized heroes. It works pretty good as I recall.

You can tell it was kind of rushed in, early boxes have hastily put on stickers and then later it's printed right on the packaging.

What a picture dude! Thanks for sharing! I own a 12 inch Non Magnetic Robin with Fly Away Action (Batman's counterpart). I bought it from a seller from Chile several years ago.

Since then, I have been searching for the Bats. Never seen one. I have even considered making one from a Magnetic Batman but would need a pair of boots that fit Mego's 12" Buff body. Also, would need a reproduction of this figure's box...

Ahh! Maybe one of these days...

I think that guy in Chile furnished the entire world supply.

The one version I actually do not own. I have the 12" non-magnetic one in the green box. Someday hopefully on it and the Batman.

It always bugged me that Cap, and Hulk came with them too.

Man, I love those "Non-magnetic magnetic" figures (the awkward phrase that I use to refer to them). The packaging is great too. I wish they weren't so rare, I'd love to add them to my collection.

I had always believed that the Magnetic Batman and Robin figures were an absolute non-sense. Why would Batman or Robin need to climb a wall with their hands? Aren't we used to see them climbing with their high tech gadgets and ropes? Now in a 12 inch Spiderman it would have been a whole different story...

The 12 inch Magnetic Batman & Robin figures sported great head sculpts, great costumes, glove cuffs/gauntlets, instead of oven mitts; and Mego spoiled two great looking figures by embedding huge/bulk magnets into their hands and feet which only made them look very odd.

That's why I pursue the Non Magnetic versions. I do own the Magnetic versions but those magnets... Man they look so yuuuk!

That is a very drool worthy picture! I too have always thought the magnetic hands looked like they took "playability" away rather than add to it.
                            It's all good!
