Awesome stuff!!! Every year I promise myself to go visit but something comes up all the time.
It was surreal seeing Bank of Metropolis, Metropolis Drugstore, and "The Metropolis Planet" newspaper...lol...they have a statue outside their offices that looks like a smaller version of the Daily Planet globe and stuff from the movies. It was weird and really cool at the same time almost like being in line for some of the attractions at Six Flags or something, but it was all real!
Anyway, more pics added and that's it for tonight, that's a little over a hundred now. I'll get some more added to the album after work tomorrow as I have to go to bed!
To come: Lois and Clark, Supergirl, George Reeves and Kirk Alyn memorabilia!
Oh and here's the link to their store just in case any of you would like to buy anything from there.
Superman Superstore
I took a long browse of the store over a couple of trips in two days and they have some really cool stuff in there. I checked on the items I bought and a few others I took notice of and it seems the pricing online is right on with the actual store pricing. There's a few things that are a bit pricey, but I mean, it IS a Superman specialty store. There's a super mega-wad of stuff that is NOT on the online store that is available in store that is really cool; action figures, comics, dolls, magnets, stickers, rings, Kryptonite rings, watches, various jewelry and lapel pins, actual pieces of "Kryptonite" rock that glow in the dark...other crazy stuff...

...okay I think that's pretty much it. There's 171 pics in all....and it's all beautiful!
Now I have to find someplace like Flickr to start my other photo tour of the Americana Museum for you guys because I've almost used my monthly limit on Flickr...lol...
Was there a few years ago and while everything in the musuem was the HOLY GRAIL of all things Superman, I was deeply disturbed by the lack of care for most of those items, especially the lack of climate control. The temperature that day was approaching 95 outside and they had NO AIR in this musuem. Have their conditions gotten any better or is the indoor climate still like walking through a country store? This is really the only thing to see in that town because everything else looks like Hazard County, with the exception of one nice hotel on the river nearby and of course the statue of Supes right to the musuem. I have scores of pics too. Did you take pics of all of Reeve's hair pieces from the movies? Most people don't realize Christopher Reeves wore a front piece for his role.
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.
Yeah the pics of his hair pieces are in the album. It was much cooler inside than outside so I'm guessing that got that problem fixed.
I remember when I went to see it. I spent over 3 hours in the museum just looking at all the stuff and trying to spot Mego items. I really cool place to visit. The gift shop was cool to. Bought a Superman shirt with Metropolis, IL on the back. I usually get comments on it when I wear it.
