    Double breasted suit pattern?

    Hi all,

I am working on some golden age characters right now and want to make some double breasted suits. I have the basic suit pattern (from CustoMego), but need to modify it to a double breasted style. Any ideas? Also, where is a good place to find small buttons to put on these? Thanks!

I take it we're not gonna see that as a custom then?

For the buttons - What color do you need? If brown works, you could always take them from beater CHIPS suits. If not, I actually got some from the scrapbooking aisle in the craft store. They're not actually buttons, but tiny paper fasteners shaped like buttons, the ones with a point that goes through the paper and then you split the points to hold them in place. The pack I got has 2 or 3 sizes included, I just used the tiny ones. I snipped the little points off the back with wire cutters. My pack has black, white, gold, and silver, but they also had some pastel assortments I think. I'm going to paint them with enamels/nail polish. According to AC Moore's website, they're called brads, and they come in all kinds of shapes. I can't find the exact ones I'm talking about right now, but I'll post a pic if you like later on.

If you find a double-breasted suit pattern, let me know. I tried to use just a CTVT suit and dye it. It wouldn't take enough of the dye to work, so I ended up with an awful pastel color. I thought I could just fake the double-breasted part by adding exta buttons, lol.

Are the characters you're working on a big secret? I was wondering if we're working on the same one...

Thanks del for the idea on the buttons. I am working on Golden Age Sandman in the green suit. I also want to do Johnny Thunder who also seamed to favor the green suits. Finally (if there is such a thing with customs!) , I want to make a Golden Age Clark Kent. Or maybe I'll make some like Meule suggested, hmmm, I wonder what the wife would think of that one?

Yep, that's the same thing I'm working on. I made a head, but the resin I used to cast it didn't cure very well, so I'm reworking it a little. Couldn't you just expand the front so it overlaps a little further?

Can you post what your current suit from Doc Mego looks like?

It's just the basic CTVT one. Notice in the description, that it says you can dye it any color. Not completely true.
