You would be doing these for 8" figures?...or just re-releasing the original stuff for 12" figures?

Either way, if the price was right I would buy some.

I'm always up for a new sculpt and a figure to go with it, but I wouldn't buy a bunch of outfits once I had the figure. If the outfits were sold only with the figures I might be tempted, but that isn't the spirit of the line as I understand it. But that may just be me.

I don't know if Mr. Action has more appeal than AJ, but I don't think Playing Mantis had huge success with their revival of AJ. I'd worry that the folks most familiar with Mr. Action would hate that it's not 12" scale.

                    very good point
The relunch Of AJ was a Bomb, do to fact that he was not 8 inch tall and use the body of Kid action.
and His theme was all over the Place, WWII Ranger and modern Spy. Lack of a villian &/or Villians ,lack Of central theme in general also hurt.

I agree, and would rather see a 12 inch repro 70's looking line. The 8 inch Captain Action does nothing for me.

I think, a 8" Mr.Action line would be very nice, but if looking into a 70's 12" knock-off recreation in 8" scale, I'd go for the Dyna Man (or also called Adventure Man) line by Barter Toys.
They had three characters: A bearded guy, a non-bearded and a afro-American. Great sculpts with flocked hair and they came with a great variety of assesories.
I have multiple of those guys and reduced the heads to Mego-scale (even attempted to flock them, but need a different kind of glue.
If somebody would do a 8" line of these, I'd be all for it and would assist it.

I would love to be able to get accessory and outfit sets for 8" figures, like an expansion of the AJ line.

Bagged weapons packs would be no problem.
and quite a few marx molds are still floating around for the 7.5 line would help.
