Does anyone know why this was called Super Phaser II? Was it because of the model of phaser as per Trek or was their a precursor game from Mego? They did also have their phaser battle arcade like game, but I cannot remember the name of it exactly and I didn't see that one in the gallery.
Loved it as a kid. The only thing that I have of it now is the phaser and the on/off switch snaped on it a long time ago. That one stays in my sentimental pile

In Star Trek, the hand phaser is known as "Phaser II" ... Phaser I being just the small palm top part.

The early 70's is when the Star Fleet Tech Manual was written making these terms "official"

It's possible Mego referenced the Tech Manual when naming it.

It's funny that Mego got the technical name of the weapon right, but most of their Trek aliens are SO wrong.
