A vintage Star Wars figure question.

Three figures I wanted desperatly as a kid, Grand Moff Tarkin, Cantina Band Member, Rebel Fleet trooper.

Anybody know why they didnt make them?

( A removable helmet vader would have been cool but I was too grown up for toys by the time Jedi came out )

I'm surprised they didn't make all the cantina aliens. I'd have wanted them all.

I can see why no Uncle and aunt but Tarkin was the head bad guy!

And They already made a old guy figure with Kenobi.

Maybe if Tarkin had done some Saber slinging we would have seen one

I think I heard they figured Tarkin was too old to appeal to kids and not a big enough character in the movie like Ben Kenobi, to overcome that. But I thought they made some Cantina aliens. Hammerhead for sure.

  6. yeah plenty of character you 1st see at the cantina are produced

sy snootles and max reebo band
    walrus man
    hammerhead
    red snaggletooth
    greedo
    chewbacca lol

but yeah some of the other characters would have been to cool for school

I guess Kenner didn't think kids wanted a doomed old man to play with.

I'd agree that obviously Kenner didn't think the initial line needed to include a guy that dies in the movie anyways, kids would want to play 'continuing adventures'.., but saying that, Kenobi (and later the Death Star) were included, so there goes that argument.

All of these were made a few years back when they did their new line of original trilogy figures... I think the Cantina Band was sold as seperate figures and I know Walmart had them as a packaged set... But I know what you mean, "back then" those would have been cool... At least they had made the "Imperial Commander" who could sort of stand in for Tarkin (even though the figure was wearing the cap.)

These guys were Jabba the Hutt's band in JEDI... (And they, along with a LOT of the other Hutt aliens suck due to their total "muppet" like appearance...)

  10. oh yeah doh... brain freeze moment right there
