    Heroes of the American Revolution

I could be wrong as I'm Canadian but I'm not sure any kid ever thought "I wish I had a John Paul Jones doll", this seems like bicentennial overload. If you had these as a kid and thought up exciting adventures for Ben Franklin like "The secret of the Bi-Focal Wearing Mummy's Tomb", please correct me in the comments section.

As an adult collector of Mego however, I kind of think these guys are kind of neat in a fun "Dimestore" kind of way.

According to Megolike.com, these guys were made by a company called RT toys you can read more here.

I never knew they existed until well into the 1990's when I started collecting Mego's.

If I did know they existed back in the day I probably wouldn't want them because I would think they were too doll-like.

    BTW, what's up with Jefferson's hat ?
Looks like he belongs on Hee Haw

I have all of these loose and several extras boxed. Neat collection if you can find them. I remember those being sold at Rose's department stores in the early 70's and I think I even picked some up at novelty stores in Gatlinburg, TN back then when we would go there for short vacations. It's a fun lot. By the way there was a Thomas Jefferson variant with different fabric used for his outfit from the initial release. Probably just a factory switchover but a variant none the less.

Ive heard thier bodies kinda stink. I would like them to make Doctor Who guys or Old World Dr Frankenstien or angry villagers and such, for a Phantom.

I actually loved these figures as a kid:

This is me, circa 1976, holding Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas "Hobo Hat" Jefferson. I have a modified Franklin now that I transplanted to one of the later CTVT bodies. I never did care much for the crummy doll bodies these came on, but I liked the costumes. I remember them being sold in K-Marts back in the day. Mom shopped there alot when we were growing up, so alot of my toy memories from the 70's revolve around that store.

Cools pics. Franklin was always my favorite as a kid. Curious though. How did you rig the heads to work on a CTVT body? They would need a plug of some sort inserted in them.

                Hmmmm....

I got a couple. The bodies suck, but they're neat figures. (I'd love to get a Franklin and Washington sometime.)

He's not a witch unless he weighs the same as wood and floats like a duck. But he may have a wart.

I just sacrificed a CTVT head to make a plug like so:

I saw something like these in Woolworth's back in the late 80s early 90s.

Not familiar with these, did they use them in your history lessons?
