    Restringing a Type 2 Mego

    Hi all -
I can't find the instructions on CustoMego for restringing a Type 2 Mego body. A while back, someone mentioned that the instructions were under "Tips N Tricks: Type 2 Body Repair." But when I click on it, I get an empty page. Does anyone know what happened to the instructions? If they are gone, can anyone send me a copy?

I'm interested in restringing my EMCE Trek figures so they'll be able to move better. I've broken a few simply by moving the arms or something similar. I really want them to have the great range of motion that the old Megos did.

    Thanks!

I think there were already some threads about this a while back, but I'm happy to add my story. I discovered that many of the Trek figures were "tight" in the shoulders/arms (and sometimes in other joints as well) and the arms didn't easily move up, out, and around. I broke a Kirk and Scotty by simply trying to rotate one of the arms up and over the head. Both torsos cracked and split. I was sad but got replacements that I haven't dared to play with too much.

I'm definitely an "opener," I like to move my figures around, pose them, etc. So I've wanted to try restringing them ever since reading that thread a while ago. In the thread, people said restringing the body was a great solution for this problem. (At least, that's what I remember reading. Hope I'm correct!)

P.S. - Thanks for the link, piecemaker!

Piecemaker - When I click on the link, I see the same thing as before. This text:

Mike Farence's Mego Type 2 Body Tutorial
Here's a great visual step by step tutorial from our own Mike "T1Kirk" Farence on how to repair a Type 2 Mego body. Thanks Mike!

Followed by a blank page. I use Firefox as my browser, could that be the problem? Can everyone else see the tutorial?

I restring all my t2 figures like the t1 figures. I think it works the best. No more hooks and rubber bands. Just elastic cord. I wish the t2 figures would have had the lion rock and 12" shoulder. Kind of like the cast-a-way shoulder. Better in my opinion.
