Thread: Underrated actors

    Question Underrated actors

I find a few actors very underrated. The first is :
Jim Carrey- I saw him in a dramatic role about 15 years ago and he was awesome. I thought it was going to be his breakout role. He has stuck with goofy and that's a bit disappointing.

Brandon Frazer- Very good actor who has gotten pidgeonholed with the mummy movies. He can act when the script calls for it.

The older brother in the show supernatural.-I love the show and he makes the show. It would not work without him.

Haden Christianson- Just kidding, this kid truly sucks.

    Add to my list??

Ponceman Perry! hes GREAT on YouTube and needs to make the jump to Hollywood.

    EVERYBODY loves him!

Hollywood is afraid because he has Downs Syndrome. Yet theyll take Hanks, Penn and Decaprio and have them play "******** " parts. Isnt that like the old days of making a caucasian an Asian ( Alec Guiness) Hispanic ( Chrlton Heston) etc?

Jim Carrey - do you remember what roll it was? I actually thought that in "Cable Guy" he was pretty on-edge and underrated and he was absolutely brilliant in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

Brendan Fraser - he got a lot of praise for his roll in "Gods and Monsters", I'm not a huge fan personally - but he is competent.

Hayden Christensen - HA - a buddy of mine use to baby sit him so I had been routing for him for a while. Is he actually that bad or are the movies he's in so terrible that he doesn't stand a chance? I don't think I've even seen him in anything yet, so I don't know.

Weird - all three are Canadian!

    My picks are:

Ian Holm - outstanding in every movie, so much so that people tend to forget him as an actor - the characters just take over I guess.

Jeff Bridges - he's super famous and gets a lot of acclaim, but never seems to show up on great actor lists. My guess is that he's never done any big scene chewing performance so he remains kind of obscure in a weird way.

Will Ferrell People are sick of him and he might not have much range, but I've never seen him break character in a movie for a second.

I know more will come to me - but those are the first ones that pop into my mind.

I'll jump on the Jim Carrey bandwagon- "The Majestic" is my favorite film of his.
He plays a great average joe part in a drama.

Leonardo DeCaprio is still underrated in my opinion. Most people associate him with Titanic but I thought he did an outstanding job in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

Johnny Depp is another one. I realize he takes on a lot of eccentric and oddball roles but he is a really good actor.

Jeff Daniels- a guy who can play funny (Dumb & Dumber), drama (Gettysburg), kids (101 Dalmations).

Timothy Hutton- wondeful as Archie Goodwin in the excellent Nero Wolfe series, Leverage is a really great show as well.
