    Megomuseum News WGSH Becomes Retro-Action!

Great Update on Matty Collector.com today, unveiling the revised card art for the Green Arrow Figure. The big change here is the line's name is no longer "World's Greatest SuperHeroes" but "Retro-Action: DC Super Heroes".

This begs the question, what other things does Mattel have planned under this "Retro-Action" banner? It sounds like 2010 will be truly be the year of the Megohead.

Retro-Action Green Arrow will be available Tuesday December 15th 2009 only at MattyCollector.com

A bit of mixed feelings here... I have such an emotional attachment to the WGSH name, I was kind of psyched to see its return. That said, if this opens the door to more retro figures than great.

And, oh yeah, we are getting new Megos
    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

I'm guessing this might be because "superheroes" is a co-owned trademark by DC and Marvel, which, IIRC had its roots in the WGSH line to begin with.

Retro-Action is a good brand name, but I'm hoping it has a better font style on the card. It needs an exclamation mark or something to make it feel 70's.

I'm guessing that Retro Action will become a blanket brand that may be spread across licenses, if that's the case, I don't care if they called it "Ladies Sewing Circle"

Not a bad sounding name but the card could be much better looking than that. The back is to plain looking but it could change.

Hopefully they'll change the card for wave 2....if not, I don't expect to lose any sleep over it. Mego super heroes are back and that's all that matters.

I think it means they're gonna revive some other non-Mego lines.
And anyone hoping for new Mego Marvel figures can forget it, with DC in the logo.
I've already expressed my feelings in another thread, but to sum it all up: I hate the card

At risk of attack, may I voice an (assumedly) unpopular opinion?
Am I the only one pessimistic about this?
From the name change, to the secret (SHHH!) of what these are actually going to look like when released, to the lackluster backing card, to the elitist club feel of the Green Arrow figure, to the high price tag?
Is Mattel going to stand behind this line with commercials and ads and get them into the hands of regular folks and kids (other stores) instead of having them only available at Toys R Us?
They feel more like a "Franklin Mint" engineered collectible than a resurrection of the Mego action figure line.
I get the feeling all the secrets (SHHH!) are because once these hit the shelves (Or mailboxes) there are going to be a lot of things that Mego lovers will not like about them.
    CTVT 2.0?

Unpopular opinion? So far almost everyone seems to agree with you. Check the Remego Forum

You know, for years Megoheads asked "Can't someone make new figures?" When the first new Mego type figures made were repros, some Megoheads said "Can't we get new Megos instead of repros?". When CTVT made newly licensed figures, some Megoheads said "Can't we get better licenses for new figures, like Super Heroes from Marvel and DC?" When EMCE made new Trek figures, some Megoheads said "Can't we get new figures without having old ones repro'd too?". Then EMCE makes a line of fully licensed DC Super Heroes without one single reproduction figure, and some Megoheads say "Well I hate the card art. Can't we get better card art?"

For the first time in almost 3 decades, we'll have the ability to buy brand new Super Heroes on the pegs at TRU, all crafted to a "T" by EMCE, yet I see tons of complaints here and in other threads about how the package under the tree is wrapped. There's just no pleasing some Megoheads.
