    Deyellowing white hard plastic

put object in a clear plastic continer with a open continer of peroxide
(like a spray can cap or plastic cup) seal it and let sit in the sun for a few hours.
Object DOES NOT have to submerged in peroxide , it works airborn.
paint and decals may be effected ,also color plastics.
    so think wisely.

Has someone had this happen before?

I have a Space 1999 chest pack (kid's size) that has never left the box, and when I last opened it, all the white had yellowed!
              It's never been near sunlight.
The hard plastic turned yellow, even though it had been fine for years.
              .
              .
              .

White plastic does not have to be in "natural light" to yellow. It speeds up the chemical processes .Under certin earth atomspheric condistions the yellowing will happen even with out light do to normal ageing. The eletrons in the outer orbit shells in the plastic matrix become excited, and attract negative atoms in the atomsphere , you get sometimes blotchy brown coloring as well the yellowing.
what the closed clear container and peroxide does is change the atomspheric conditions while allowing the sunlight to speed up reacting process of the plastic so the chemical change can occur.

How about soft white plastic? Like, say... a Joker head?
