    Ape Burke or Virdon?

For those of you who are fans of the POTA series, which guy do you like better, Burke or Virdon? Virdon is more the brains of the outfit, while Burke is spunky w/ a good sense of humor.

Personally, I prefer Burke. How about you?

Bo or Luke? Starsky or Hutch? Laurel or Hardy? Beavis or Butthead?

Between the two, I'd say I would pick Burke, just because (at least in a few episodes), he knows their reality, they are stranded there so they had better get used to it, cause it's home from now on. The real trouble is though is this: James Naughton seemed to think that he was the "main" astronaut, when in reality he was supposed to be the second fiddle and/or comic relief.

Still, the question of who do I like better can really be answered more accurately by saying this: I don't like either of them better, Colonel George Taylor is the best of all the astronauts.

  5. I've grown to dislike Burke intensely. He was supposed to complement the character of Virdon, the serious leader, by being carefree and irresponsible, but Naughten insisted on playing him as Hero #2.

I didn't watch the show to see astronauts anyway. Galen was the star.

I always associate best with the leader type characters, so I'll go with Virdon.
Burke was ok, but he seemed the type to just shrug, accept the monkeys rule, and go hide in the bushes for the rest of his life. Wouldnt that make for an exciting series---hiding in the bushes---"Here come the Gorilla's, quick, play dead!"
Virdon wanted to go home, no matter what, and was the driving force behind the adventures the group got into.
Of course, as Abmac has said, Galen was the star!

Galen was probably the most realistic human character on the Planet of the Apes -- including Burke and Virdon ....

    Weird,

I wonder if the producers ment that back then -- or are we reading stuff that was never ment to be ?

I like Virdon only because of the fantastic scene with the Late Mark Leonard of Brain washing. I am quoting from an memory, and he still shows up on commercials for pain relievers

"Ahh Brainwashing I have heard of this...this is where we remove the brain an rinse it in cold water'

possibly the best line in the entire series
