yeah there's tons of that type from hands to larger ones. That looks like an older one but very similar. Check out Dick Blick online catalog for them.

Someone might have put that in there, b/c according to the GIJoe Masterpiece Edition book, they got the inspiration for the figure from this artist doll.

          Weird....

It's GOT to be an artist's mannequein; but it's not a very good one. No abdominal articulation. (Triflexion is important for poses....)

            i AGREE,
Its old , the small size is unquie and lack of middle movement and hands only rotate ,make it a really tough Artist mannequein use.
It might be part of a bigger set, in other words a Weight Bearer to another figure. to do complex acrobat stances.

there a book GI JOE THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICAS FAVORITE MAN OF ACTION .
LEVINE SAID HE PASS art store and saw the artist model in the window and got the idea for a 12 inch doll for boys, I mean ACTION FIGURE.
You can get the book cheap nowaday.
the mock up /prototype 12 inch figure was called Rocky.
orginally they were to have names , like salty the frogman
He auctioned the mock up during that HUGE GIjoe lot Auctioned in New York city.
