What adhesive to use for reattaching a Trek emblem silver foil?

A while back I purchased a boxed Enterprise Bridge playset with some loose figures, and one unexpected bonus I found at the bottom of the box was a silver foil emblem that must have fallen off of one of the figures, probably years ago. Usually I'm very unobservant, but when it comes to toys I have a good eye.

Anyway, I'm trying to reattach the foil to the vinyl bottom part of one of my figure's emblems but am having trouble. I've tried a couple kinds of glues, but nothing is making it stick. To add to the problem, a couple of the points on the foil are curled up, so I can't make the thing flat either. What kind of adhesive have any of you folks had success with making the foil stick to the vinyl part?

    Hmmmm....

Have you tried fabric glue? The invisible, flexible, washable kind?

the best thing I found that worked was DaveMc's idea of a simple elmers glue stick worked great and the one I had to mess with also had curled up points
