True.. my Captain Action childhood memories, being a little older, are like many folks' Mego Memories (getting them as holiday presents etc...).

Even so, I "adopted" the Mego line years later (in the 70's) as a collectible , seeing it as a "spiritual" successor to CA (albeit in a smaller size), the same way you might look at CA as a "big Mego-like ancestor"! So, we can expand past the nostalgia element, though it helps to be rooted in it in some way...

I didn't have Cap as a kid, but I kinda started liking this line b/c of a cool layout I saw in the old Collecting Toys magazine. I really would have like Cap as a hero in his own right. They did have kinda cool playsets, and a villain back then. I do have a Green Hornet Playing Mantis Cap though.

I remember finding out about Captain Action when a neighbour down the road gave me his old comics when he went off to college. I was about 8... 9 maybe and was shocked and amazed to stumble on the classic full page Captain Action ad in an old Superman comic. At the time I regretted not being a few years older so I could have got Cap and some of his gear.

I remember being amazed as a kid to have some of my DC & Marvel favorites in toy form .. just like a 12" GI Joe. When I ever saw the Captain Action comic book I knew he was "official" !! (Superman was even in one issue, that "proved" it!).

I always hoped for a CA Green Lantern and Flash (See you Megoheads, thart particular quest even started before Megos!) but alas!

Even with his absurdly long arms, the 12" Capt. Action was definitely a favorite for this 60'schild!
