    Plaid Stallions British Phaser

I'm a sucker for purty toy packaging and these shots of the UK version of the Star Trek Phaser just had me drooling. It's so nice that I'll forgive the dye job on Shatner's hair. Thanks to Ebay seller retrotoyboy for letting me use these.

    Great packaging.

I miss the classic 70's Star Trek font seen on many Trek toys of that era.

Wow, that painting is interesting. With the closed eye he looks like the tragic result of transport accident with Shatner, Lee Majors, and Jack Lord.

But I love stuff like this. You'd never see distinctive packaging like this now. Sigh.

SO DO I..!! I love all the early/mid '70s Trek packaging.. All PRE-FRANCHISE stuff. I'm still trying to track down some of the vintage Trek beach towels. My friends had some.

I incidentally still have a vintage '75 Captain America beach towel in pristine condition, my mom actually never let me use it when I was a kid. Gosh, she was smart. I think it was very gently washed once since then, then I put it in a sealed plastic bag. It's still beautiful..

    Sorry, I got off-topic.

I love the old AMT model box art as well. I was planning on hunting down the old, original large-boxed Spock and Klingon boxes to somehow frame and put up in my den, but I'm glad to see that they're being reissued again..

For some reason this brought back a long lost memory.

I remember going to a Trek convention when I was a kid (had to be mid 70's). We bought Type-1 phasers that were handmade from a piece of black and silver painted wood and half a plastic gear glued to it. I think space tape was a big hit at the time and I definitely bought some of that ! Might have picked up my Enterprise blue prints there.
