Oh, brother. Comparing GL to Spidey is apples and oranges. GL's enemies list didn't get de-lame-ified until recently. Before that it was idiots like the Shark, Sonar, Goldface and a certain yellow ringed doppleganger.

As far as modern reading, Green Lantern is currently much more interesting. Spider-Man just isn't SPIDER-MAN to me anymore.....One More Day/Brand New Day was the last straw.

But a few years ago, when Hal Jordan became a crazy bastiche as Parallax and then became a lame-o as The Spectre, who would have thought the character would have had such a turnaround?

Everything in comics is cyclical....I'm sure Spider-Man will be SPIDER-MAN once again....just not at the moment.

Ohhh,.. I know... But the Arguement of the Aledgid Awesomeness of Spider-Man over Green Lantern,.. Has come to me Now Twice,.. By 2 Different People. Given everything I know About Green Lantern,.. & Everything I know About Spider-man..., Hands down,.. GL IS King. .. I just wanted to Write it down for those people.

I'm a DC guy, and love GL. Love Alan Scott. Love Hal. Love the Corps concept. Big Gil Kane fan. But Spidey is right behind Superman and Batman for greatest and most influential comic character ever, and nowadays, I'd say he is just as popular in the general public as Supes and Bats (maybe even more than Supes).

Spidey has been treated better by his publisher. GL has been canned and restarted how many times? Not to mention replaced at least twice(at one point so lame, DC killed him) that I can think of.

It's hard to overcome just the overall popularity of any given character
and just to stand on it's own merits as a character ALONE.

The legacies of BATMAN, SPIDER-MAN etc. are so strong...well...you know...

Anyways, Hal Jordan has a real Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne
"cool guy" thing going for him---except Hal doesn't have the dough---
and in my eyes that makes him even more "cool" in many respects
than Stark/Wayne.

Between Hal's dense history (which isn't as "big-time" as the top guys
but still "strong") and his overall character/powers---there's a real
good chance that a live action feature featuring "Hal" GL could really
hit a home run.

Spider Man: Always super strong and agile.

Doesn't seem so cut and dry.
