okay, as the official pics come in, i will speak to specific elements.

green arrow: we tweaked the face sculpt a bit. beard and sideburns more contemporary, closed his mouth and got rid of the painted pupils.

which brings me to an important point: mattel and dc policy is to use likeness sculpts that are 100% cleared. unless an original artist/sculptor can be located and compensated, they will not use that sculpt or art. it's a cool policy, i think. so, it necessitated some tweakage.

green arrow's flared gauntlets are now more in line with the archer's triple-notched arm guards the character has. material is now a heavy leatherette versus the felt the original had (hey Dave, remember how much fun that was?

quiver is the same but now has the cross-chest strap from the comic.

colors will mach style guide and have slight variations from the original

Not only is that Paul, but it looks like our own Art B. is sitting next to him. I can hear him now - "New Megos!! Awwwww, yeah!!"
An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"

No, this is actually a Mattel announcement rather than a Mego/Emce announcement, so that means DC characters only.

But perhaps Emce is also working with Hasbro or Diamond for a separate deal with Marvel characters? Doubtful, but possible.

Oh, and I see that John Stewart GL has been removed from the list of first wave characters. Perhaps he'll be in a future wave, or maybe an exclusive?

                    Unimportant question ....

When these are sold ... will the cards say Mattel, EMCE, Mego, other ?

                    Just wondering

Just awesome news. And how wonderful to hear this is just Wave 1. I can now start the recovery process from those dark days when I tried to track down Megos in the 80s and sadly learned the company was out of business. Are these bodies 8 inch or something slightly more?

Well, all I can say is that I'll take my bow now, as clearly I started the ball rolling by showing some Mattel execs my Hellboy Mego customs up close and personal during a portfolio review at SDCC '07. Everyone is very welcome. It was the least I could do.

Seriously though - excellent score guys! If parts like heads, etc are interchangeable it will be completely awesome (Sinestro and Luthor? Woot!).

                        [EDIT]
Future tributes may be paid via Mego/Mattel product - shipping information is available through my press agent.

superman head: yes, the sculpt is new. we all agreed that the original looked like an american indian in retrospect, so our challenge here was how mego would approach the sculpt given all the ways the character had been portrayed in the media. andy came up with a sculpt that our guy at mattel (hi bill!) said gave him "the chills". "s curl" is where it belongs, his jaw is more square, sideburns trimmed, etc.

costume is virtually untouched. i think we added red belt loops and that was it.

Kudos to Dave on the awesome stitchwork on the prototypes and everyone else involved. I can not wait for Sinestro and Luthor. Love the bad guys. Also love the GL Corp. How about Kilowog on a little bit larger Hulk style body. C'mon Mattel let's move it!!
