    Any alternative Flu treatments? Help!!

Hey guys! My wife & I have been battling the Flu since Fathers day. The doctor did give us anti-biotics for my throat, but i was wondering if anybody here uses and successful alternative treatments when fighting the flu? I tried Garlic pills & echnacia/Goldenseal- that didnt help.

I'm super weak right now, dizzy, cant keep any solids down and nasty sore throat!!

    Thanks!

The best thing you can do is lots of rest and liquids to prevent dehyrdration.

Gatorade or Ginger Ale seem to work well. You could also go for some of those Good Humor (Red, White, and Blue) Rocket popsicles...hydration plus a little relief for the throat.

There are over the counter drops you can buy that will numb the throat for a little while (not a cure...just help with the symptoms).

Antibiotics won't kill the flu since they only work on bacterial infections and the flu is a viral infection so you might be dealing with the flu plus strep or some type of bacterial infection.

All excellent I would just add that they do make a pedialyte Popsicle for kids to keep them hydrated I have used them myself if your to tired to make some Gatorade-sicles.

I've also used Zinc it has 5 times the healing power of Vit C.
Also I take a B complex for energy.(B-50,B-75 or B-100) any should help a bit.

As for the Whiskey...Some people swear by it just remember alcohol will dehydrate you more so be careful choosing it.

    Then I use Buckley's,straight up...

Seriously, booze is the worst thing you can drink when you're sick.
Booze messes up how your liver works and that messes up your blood production and that messes up your ability to make antibodies to fight the cold.

Not to mention if you are dehydrated this could also be extremely dangerous as the alcohol will dehydrate you further.

I wouldn't use it,but some people swear by it.

    Stick with clear fluids.

My aunt had the flu for two weeks. There's a really nasty virus out there.

My son Ethan (who is 7) had a temperature for about 7 days. We were getting really worried. There was nothing the doctors could do. When we would give him medications, it would relieve the symptoms but basically the flu was still there. At the end of 4 hours, his temperature would be back up.

Hydration is important. Sucking on ice chips helps cool down the throat and hydration.
