You mean like The Dark Knight?
Actually Dark Knight was an original idea (or at least Begins was). The idea: make a good Batman movie.

Isn't the new Freddy the guy who played Rorshach in Watchmen?

Yep and I think he had the best role..

I didnt know he was in the Bad News Bears as a kid though.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
        Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Englund's wiki page ALONE leads you to believe he might have something
          decent going on.

when i met Englund a few years back,he was still doing the Freddy thing he sounded awesome,I remember I was carrying my Capt.Spalding large figure, and he would keep screaming"Get that Captain Spalding outta here!!" in the Freddy voice...It was freakin hilarious, everyone was cracking up

I just think that they're going in a different direction and just wanna change it up a bit

I'll miss Englund. I wish they could have done one more Freddy vs. Jason, but this is a very good choice to replace him.

Hector...you have to be the most presumptious, belittling person
these days...geez...everybody gotta be some obscure offbeat actor
to get any kind of props from you?

Englund's doing just fine...it's not like he was ever "Johnny Depp" to begin
with when it came to "work" in the first place.

Tell me he has a 1.2 million home to support...or a starlet to keep happy...
and maybe I'll admit that his wiki ain't makin' him look too secure right now

(not that I'd be so bold to presume----just what ARE your sources Hollywood Joe?)

So what do you want me to do?

Go to his house and kiss his bloody feet?

Doesn't look like he's hurting for work given that he still appears in stuff like 2001 Maniacs and Zombie Strippers. Probably not as big a payday as the Freddy movies, but much less hassle given how much he hates the make-up process.

It would be great if they gave him a cameo or something in the new V. I was really shocked as a kid to discover the Willy the Good Visiter was Freddy.

I actually kind of wish they had gotten Jason Vs Freddy Vs Ash done before they went the remake route. Particularly since Englund and Bruce Campbell aren't getting any younger.

They eventually took the storyline they developed for the movie and turned it into a comic book.

Just read that halloween 2 is coming out soon and they are slated to remake/reboot hellraiser as well.
                                It's at bloodydisgusting.com

                                Also;

While Platinum Dunes is winding down on their reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street, we caught up with your brand new Freddy Krueger, Jackie Earle Haley, who tells Bloody-Disgusting exclusively that he's signed on to return for more razor-glove teen terrorizing. "Two more," prompting us to confirm, "So, three total?" Haley smiles, displaying three fingers, "yeah." We also broke the news that Rooney Mara (Nancy Thompson) is signed on for one more trip to Elm Street. Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release the remake in theaters April 16, 2010. The films' premise centers on Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.
