    Meet your new Freddy Krueger...

    Jackie Earle Haley...

Yes...the former whiz baseball kid from the Bad News Bears will be your new Freddie Krueger in the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)...

He's actually a fantastic actor...he received an Oscar nomination for his role as a child molester in Little Children.

    I love Robert Englund...but he's in his 60s now...so a younger...but still creepy-looking actor was needed...and Haley fits the Krueger role perfectly.

My only gripe though...is that Haley is a really small and slight person.

    Thoughts?

he has the right look if they have to replace Englund.

Small and slight would be menacing for this character!

I wonder if the look for the character is still going to be the same?

I like it. He's a great actor and has a unique look about him. I just hope that the re-boot is more akin to the original NOES, once Freddy started with all the one liners it became horror comedy. For my money the first film is still one of the creepiest and genuinely scary films from my youth.

Isn't he almost as old as englund? like within 10-15 years?

Is there that much age difference?
Why can't Englund play Freddy at the age of 60? With all that make-up, can you even tell?
Do we really need a remake?
If they wanted short and scary, couldn't they have picked Tom Cruise?

What Rik said, do we really need a remake?

Yes, 15 years...but that's a nice gap...especially when you are getting up there in age.

AH! that's scaring me already. Wow. That kid didn't age too well did he? Looks like all the original slasher films will get the reboot treatment. I wonder if Hellraiser is on the horizon? That would be a hard one to top though. The original is such a classic, especially with the cast selected. "Come to daddy."

I know nothing about this...but I'd think if Englund really wanted back,
                              they'd let him. (???)
