This is my first post to the complete customs forum. These are actually custom Mego scaled accessories, not figures. I hope that is okay.
First I made Mego scale chess pieces
And a chess board to go with them. (Kirk's opening move!)
But, not satisfied with with classic 2-d chess, I decided to try my hand at 23rd century 3-d chess.
I pretty much followed the design shown in the Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual scaled to Mego size. The 3-d board with a small board on top, is about 2 3/4 inches tall.
Although not as show accurate, I also made the 3-d board in black, which I thought looked pretty cool.
Here are what the pieces look like (they snap together), and my name is on the bottom of the base. The smaller boards can be moved around, as needed in the real game. Although actually playing a game on a board this small is a test of patience.
I also tried making the base with this "pearl" plastic, that gives it an ivory look (its the same plastic I used for the white chess pieces).
Hope this isn't too many pictures, but I was really happy how this project turned out and wanted to share.
Since people asked, I added the following sale information later in the thread:
I'd be happy to make some to sell if people are interested. It will be $12 for a regular set (chess board + 32 chess pieces) or $22 for the 3-D Trek set (3-D board + 32 chess pieces). Plus $6 for shipping in the US. PM me for details or if you have any questions.
