Restore your Mego zombie head - no dipping!

    OK,...heres what to do to restore a Zombie Mego head;

    1) remove heads and stick on a pencil or pen and clean them with dishwasher soap to remove the oil and stickyness
    2) need the following articles:

    -a) rubbing alcohol
    -b) 2 Q-tips
    -c) red Sharpie marker

    3) dip Q-tip in alcohol, while wet, color the tip of Q-tip with red marker
    4) quickly color with the Q-tip head starting at the back of the neck very lightly, then keep spreading to the rest of the neck and face, if more ink needed,..dip in alcohol again and color tip again and continue.
    5) if you notice some areas more red than others, simply rub and smear with another clean Q-tip dipped in alcohol.
    6) once finished, let dry and VUOLA!!! a flesh colored head again
ADVICE: for practice, try on an un-wanted zombie Mego head,..
works also on heads that have certain areas zombified too!

    GOOD LUCK!!

FOREVER!!!!! Ive done this to my Dukes, Chips, 12" Buck Rogers, Star Trek, Bond and Black Hole figures! Once the Red Sharpie ink combined with the alcohol penetrates the rubber material,..it absorbs the alcohol, and drying at the same time the ink,..giving it a flesh hue, once combined with the Zombie hue as well. Go ahead,..give it a try.....but must be applied with a Q-tip, so that color will blend naturally.

Ok. Orphans! Listen to Ignacio. I know it is fun to wrestle. A nice piledrive to the face... or a punch to the face... but you cannot do it. Because, it is in the Bible not to wrestle your neighbour.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that it will last forever, since the gray effect
is suspected to be caused by a fungus in the vinyl, over time it may re-gray
the head - as has happened to heads that were plasti-dipped.

It will be interesting to see if the rubbing alcohol will penetrate down into
the sub-surface layers of vinyl and affect it.

Keep us posted on any new developments with those heads.

So....you only touch up the flesh colored parts, not the hair, or mask's (if relevent)? Or do you use a sharpie the same color as the paint app is meant to be?

This sounds very interesting! Hopefully the alcohol kills the fungus Doc mentioned! The thought of fungified Mego heads gives me the creeps!!!

My Invisible Woman has the fungus.
I don't know where she picked it up.
I told her to be careful, but she wouldn't listen......

good stuff man,I actually did that to a Batman Cowl that was discolored about 2 years ago when i first joined here.

It was by accident of course,it was all discolored so I figured what the hell it ain't worth anything anyways,so I got the blue sharpie just to color it in a bit,i didn't like the way it looked so I tried to clean it with alcohol and it faded and blended the blue pretty darn close

never thought about doing it to a zombie head

Very interesting indeed is it known to spread to other heads?
Like if you have say 20 heads in a bag and say two or three of them are infected will they spread to other heads?

Another question about this method: I know that if you use a sharpie to touch up eyebrows or similar features, it tends to bleed over the years and look like a blob. I got some junk heads a while back, and you could tell that someone used ink to restore the eyebrows, because there were blue-black splotches above their eyes. Would the red marker used in this degraying method do the same? I would imagine that it would for touchups on the blue cowl, unless rubbing the area with alcohol somehow prevents this?
