Been trying to put this one together for a while now, and thanks to a shield from Kev (Tactile) he's complete...

Lakeside Toys 1966 Captain America Super-Flex bendy.

I believe he's the earliest Marvel action figure issued, if you count bendys as action figures :-)

    Thanks Kev!

    Cheers,

That's very cool, I hadn't seen that figure before. Did Lakeside only make Cap then? I'd imagine that those shields would be hell to find, congrats Will.

Captain Action released the Captain America outfit in 1966 also. They're action figures in the Mego Alter-Egos sense I guess.

          Great score Will!!

Oh yeah, forgot about the Cap :-) I read somewhere that the bendy Cap was first so maybe it was only by a few months or something. I didn't know he existed until I saw a beat-up version in John Marshall's Super Hero Toys book (Which coincidentally features Rob C's minty loose Megos) He's crazy rare on card, found this pic on the Random Acts of Geekery blog:

              Thanks for the kind feedback!

Wow. Lakeside made some great stuff and it looks great with the packaging. As I remember, even their Gumby card art looked exciting.
                It's all good!

I think Lakeside made a Green Hornet as well, what an odd pairing of heroes. It's a sweet item, congrats!

I see the Hornet a good deal, there are even three on Ebay right now, I'd say Cap was tougher by a long shot.

I love bendies. That Captain America is sweet!! Congrats on finding the shield.

Lakeside also made Popeye and Smokey the Bear.

I have been Figure collecting for over 20 years... but the last 12 months its gone over the top.

In the last 3 months I have got 5 AJ's and at least 10 costumes (which I never had when i was a kid) and am getting Retro Star Trek.
My main Figure Collecting is the Doctor Who ones.

                            But I have 2 questions...

My last AJ i got has a darker more reddish face.. is this normal, as it was suppose to be a mint in box (never opened). (it is a bearded one, but the body is a normal T2 body.

And my first new AJ (bearded) has a pale mark on its neck (like a birthmark for figures)
(this was also a MIB one too) (I try to get MIB ones).

And I cannot show photos as i dont have a camera... sorry.

If the hair's red ,there a lot variaions in hair. Black Blonde and brown on the norms.
also it normal if the flesh tone is reddish .yeah there some with that pigment variation.skin tone can vary.
as for the brith mark on the neck if its blue is the chemical change in the skin pigment do to the thinning colorization pigments in that area during the roto casting.

Had the chance to get the full set of 4 in one go recently, missing accessories but I'm not really too worried :-)

1979 Takara Japan 8-Inch Star Wars vinyls:

Picked this up last year too, it's my oldest super hero item by a long shot.

Early 1940's Sunday Mail (Australia) Superman Comics Club pinback, the earliest piece of Aussie Superman merchandise I know of.

                                Cheers!
