1:1 Frankenstein and Wolfman busts (pics)

Over at the Replica Prop Forums that I also belong to, I was lucky enough to obtain a couple cool monster castings made by Howard Studios. With the monster fans round these here parts, I thought I would share.

To see more of Howards fine work, visit:

Received a couple busts for Father's Day (Way to go Wife!).
    Bride of Frankenstein and Wolfman.
I just did some clean-up on em today since it was nice weather.
Trimmed all flashing and cleaned out their noses, ears, eyes and hair.
Used an air grinder to knock off the big flashing...used my dremil with various bits to do the fine work. Went back over with some sandpaper in the ears and a good strong brush for the hairlines.
I'd love to paint em...but I'd hate to ruin em. The plan is to get some plaster pillars and make displays for the movie room. Since they're hollow, it is a neat effect to put a light bulb inside for slight illumination.

I took a pic of Frankie next to my Portumac Vader lid to give you a size comparision.
See all the pics I took at :

    Enjoy:

    Holy crap, those are AWESOME
But weren't they incredibly expensive too?

Putting them on pillars will look wicked cool and I agree: don't paint them.

    They are expensive..to me anyways.
But, Howard has a license pending on these particular sculpts and they are limited runs. My Frank is 24/25 and Wolfie is 11/20.
They are just about $350 each.
Now, I normally would never consider spending that amount on a static prop piece that will just sit around..but they are perfect renditions of my favorites, Karloff and Chaney Jr.
Plus, they aren't available anywhere else and limited to boot.

Those are really nice . . . but ya gotta paint em!! I bet they would look reallly sweety with a faux bronzing or copper finish, which are pretty easy to do if you know the process. Congrats on the great pick ups
