In the 70's movie (at the end) Marley was clearly in hell ... Even showing Scrooge where his quarters will be.

Also, if Marley is in hell, why is he wearing chains for being bad ?
Wouldn't Satan love him for that ?
    Same with Scrooge
I mean what the HELL do you have to do to get on the devil's good side ?

Didn't see the movie---but it SOUNDS like they were just
heaping on bad "Hellish" things---"having fun" with "Hell"---etc etc.
---i.e. not too much serious logical thought went into it.
When I .... how do you say (?) .... think of my mindframe on this spaceplane, I'm Skywalker with my X-Wing like I was when I was a kid.

We all no how a screen writer can kill a good story. Sounds like this 70s version did just that.

Between tv and movies has any other christmas story been retold and changed around.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL is so perfect for Christmas it's too hard NOT to rewrite
when you're thinking of a good Christmastime story...I know that from
    personal experience

If you don't consider HOW THE GRINCH... to be too far off the mark---
the Scrooge story gets told again and again---a curmudgeon's
frosty heart being warmed by the joy that the "Christmas spirit" brings.

Ahh yes Scrooge as a Walmart manager I loved that Christmas Carol.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

    "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

Now that I think about it, all versions (that I know of) use the walk the Earth theme rather than the hell theme.
I guess the hell theme was only done only in the '70 movie.
