    Forrest J Ackerman RIP

Just learned from the Universal Monster Army forum that FJ has passed. He lived a long life but still a sad day.

Oh, no. Not unexpected but still sad news.
Another chapter of my childhood comes to a close.

Aw damn, that's a shame. He was so far ahead of his time in collecting horror and SF ephemera, stuff most people thought was completely worthless. And he inspired a generation (or two) with Famous Monsters. RIP Forry.

From what I have read, he was pretty spry up until the last couple of years, that is an enviable life.

His name is synonymous with fandom and I think his mark on pop culture will be hard to forget.

The greatest monster collector to ever live. I really hope the don't sell off his collection in pcs. It would be nice to preserve it as it is for future generations.

I remember visiting his website awhile back. I can't seem to find it in my favorites and couldn't locate it online. Is it still up and running? I think it was called Uncle Forry's Basement or something like that. You would go to different 'rooms' in his Ackermansion on the site.
The closest I could find was a dead link in an old article about him at a best.com site.
The only Famous Monsters site I could find wasn't affiliated with Famous Monsters magazine and hasn't been updated in over 2 years so no mention of Uncle Forry's passing there.

    This is very sad news.

I met Forry way back in 1978 at a Science Fiction convention and he was a great guy and very generous with his time. I still kick myself for not getting a
photo with him when I had the chance.

    He will be missed.

    R.I.P. Forrest J. Ackerman
