I was 11 in 1981 when the MOTU toys first hit the shelves, and I was hooked from day one. I really appreciated the "swords, monsters and laser guns" aesthetic and I used to make my own comics based on my conception of the He-Man stories as set in a future post-nuclear apocalypse.

However, once the Filmation show came on, and the Prince Adam element was introduced, I felt like it really dumbed down the whole enterprise, and I lost interest.

I still have all my old figures, though, including a complete NM Castle Grayskull in its original box.... Am I cool or what?

I was 7 when these came out and was into them for a year until GI Joe RAH came out and that was it, for me. It was the 3 3/4 GI Joe until I was done with toys (for the time being). I guess MOTU was kind of an inbetween for me...inbetween Star Wars and Joes. Though, looking back on it, that line had some great figures and even better playsets/vehicles.

I always thought the figures were really colorful and fun---

Add to that, that there were about 40 different characters, and well, that's
          my type of figure line

I have them all---packed up in Philly

Looking forward to seeing 'em again one of these days

For now I have about 15 of my favorites here in L.A.----
most of them are the replicas from the 2000s
(not like anyone could really tell the difference)

I was real big into He-Man (I actually named my nephew Adam cause o' him!)
Mego wasn't doing anything but CHiPS then so I had to focus my attention to something till Return of the Jedi came out and He-Man was perfect for that! Man-E-Faces is still my favorite figure from the line. 3 faces one figure. How could you beat it?
I still have my Greyskull playset and the box too! I still have all of my M.O.T.U. toys when I was little (I was 7 in 81')sadly, they weren't the best quality to stand the test of time, the rubber cords that hold the legs together tend to rot over the years and some of mine met that end but I can't bring myself to throw them away,(when that cord goes the figure is totally useless and worthless)*sighs* The cartoon was awesome! It was a franchise that I was totally hooked on,

until the Transformers came and I heard Scatman Corothers voice as Jazz.........then it was all over!

I LOVED Faker. I remember him being hard to find, even back in the day. But now I wonder, who the heck was he faking out? A blue He-Man with a reel-to-reel tape palyer on his chest, and an orange version of Skeletor's chest armor. Toy company kit-bashing as it's finest.

When my son and I dug him out of my dad's basement a few weeks ago, I told him Faker was kind of He-Man's Bizarro. I guess that's about as good as explanation as any.

He's still coverd in some funky basement dust. I need to get him and the other MOTU stuff we dug out cleane up before I let him play with them. But yeah, he's always intrigued by the "evil" versions of the heroes. Who isn't?
