I have heard both of these names in the hobby but don't know who they are. Can someone explain why they are important? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I do not buy or deal in customs. Are they members here?

James Brady AKA "Captain Dunsel" was one of the founding members of this board, he's a talented sculptor and he went on to sculpt some of the EMCE heads.
We spoke about a month ago, he's a busy fellow right now.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I have dealt with him a little bit, he seems like a good guy, and quite knowledgable. I don't think he is doing any stuff for sale really and sort of shut down his site, however it is still up for reference. He has patterns and some examples of his past work.

Pretty cool stuff. You can see previous examples of the Gorn sculpt as well as some other Trek figures he did. Some good "how to" pages in there as well for customizers.Last edited by SUP-Ronin; Nov 28, '08, 3:42 PM."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."Comment

James Brady is one of the nicest and most talented person's you'd ever meet.
I believe, if it wasn't for James, EMCE would probably not be happening right now.
It was James' customs that really brought Star Trek Mego's into the 2000's and brought in a lot of new blood to the hobby ... which we're still feeling now.
I also feel very proud of the fact he created one of his masterpeices -- Commodore Decker, at MY request.
He's great and that's itComment

James Brady is one heck of a nice Guy! I'm so please to see that Doc Mego involved Him in His EMCE Star Trek project....way to go Paul! That's the coolest thing that's going on around here at the Mego Museum...there's sooooooo much talent around here here, that's there is no need to go outside the Community to do Mego Figures! James is sculpting for Doc...Troy Younger sculpting for Jay & I...it's the way it should be! Members from the Mego Museum...creating new Megos! How AWESOME is that!!sigpicComment

What's funny is, James came on and was your average collector guy then I remember him going on about childhood customs and how he was going to recreate a figure of the villain "The Wizard" from Marvel comics.
I didn't think much about it but then James started showing his work and it was really good, I was just sort of taken by surprise how he talented a guy he was.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I think his first REAL custom was the Telarite --- but it knawed at him because it was sculpted on an existing Mego ... Then James came up with that Khan head from scratch and it totally just took off from there.
I was the winner of his first contest for the Khan head
I miss those daysComment

I can't help but think of Dave when I think of James.
I mean, McDunsel was top of the line for a good few years ...
They were my generations "Flatts"
Dave's suits totally made James sculpts come to life.
They were like peanut butter and jelly.
Mego Museum early days nostalgia ?
I love itComment

I came in late to the McDunsel party, but I did manage to get few since then. Awesome sculpts by James and fantastic suits by Dave, how can you not like that combination."...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

James was one of the first customizers I hooked up with when I first started messing around with Megos and has always been a good Mego buddy to this day. Just a class guy all around and very talented.Comment

Me too. I still knew who everybody was back then.
No offense meant to the current crop of Museumites, your all great folks! It's just that the Museum had a different vibe too it a few years back thats missing now.
Again, nothing personal.....It's probably just that I hate change"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
