    big little books

suprized nobody made thread about these yet.
Almost as cleesey as the coloring books of the 60's and 70's. anyway the memorable ones i remember were
the hulk where he goes back in time to fight dinosaurs.
fantastic four where their villian is named dr. weird (can't make this stuff up)
i think they made aquaman, superman and some other comic characters too.

    Major Matt Mason-Moon Mission
    Lassie-Adventure in Alaska
    Gentle Ben-Mystery In The Everglades
    The Invaders-Alien Missle Threat
    Flipper-Killer Whale Trouble (2)

I had some and I do have a few older ones now, but the ones I had as a kid were the paperback versions. They had little pictures that when you flipped the pages it looked like a cartoon (they moved). Bent up really easy, lol. I think they were marked like 39 cents or something on the cover. My grandma used to take me down to the D&K store and buy them for me when I was little. I remember a Bugs Bunny one for sure.

I have an Aquaman one somewhere. My sister picked up at a flea market, assuming I'd want it. I offered it up the Aquaman Shrine, but he, of course, already had one.

Cool site! Didn't care for the snarky remarks, but the pics in the books are cool.

I had (and still have) the Batman book about the Cheetah. He seemed like a legit, old Batman villain to me at the time, but he was just made up for the book.

I have a few of these, and thought they were great when I was but a wee fellar! I even did a grade 7 book report on one once out of desperation (wrote it at breakfast that same day as I recall)...Didnt work though...Teach made me do a real book report anyways.

Do they still print these? If not, somebody really should pick up the baton and bring them back.

The sixties versions were in hardcover , later all re-issued in softback along with a bunch of Looney Tunes, Disney titles added (Also Hulk, Spidey, and Superman). I have almost a full set of the hc versions which were mostly TV and Cartoon shows. Of all of them, Space Ghost, Frankenstein JR,, and Aquaman were my favorites.

I come across them at flea markets a lot, with Flipper, Tarzan, Daktari, Man from Uncle being the most common. I see those four a lot. Space Ghost seems harder to find.

Always wished there were more Superhero ones or better TV shows, Would have loved a Jonny Quest or Josie & the Pussycats (in Outer Space!!). Surprisingly there was only the one Batman & no Green Hornet.

I've seen some really crappy Hanna-Barbera softcovers from the late 80s which are better left alone. There are some Star Wars versions out there for the assorted films, and I've also seen Hercules & Xena volumes in the dollar store that weren't interesting enough for me to spend a buck on.

In a related category, anyone collect the Whitman TV books from the sixties such as Rat Patrol, Bewitched, Munsters etc? Just bought a pile of those at a used book sale. Hawaii-5-0 and Dragnet- cool stuff!
